Jamshedpur, March 25: The court of first additional district and sessions judge, Chaibasa on Saturday sentenced a 26-year-old youth Vishal Padeya to 25-years of rigorous imprisonment after finding him guilty in a case of rape of a minor. Apart from the rigorous imprisonment, the court which also deals with the cases under POCSO Act has slapped the convict with a penalty of Rs 25,000.
The case was registered in the Chaibasa Mufassil thana in 2021 following an FIR lodged by the parents of a minor girl.
The victim who used to live in the neighborhood of the convict in the Chaibasa Mufassil thana area had come to watch a TV serial at Vishal’s house. As there was no one else in the house at that time, Vishal had raped the minor in his house. Soon after returning home, the victim had informed the incident to her parents who had lodged the FIR against Vishal.
A police investigation and medical examination report of the victim had confirmed the allegation of rape before the accused was taken into custody.
