Chaibasa to host ‘Chess for Everyone’ FIDE rating championship

Dhanbad, July 25: West Singhbhum would host a Rs 75,000  award money ‘Chess For Everyone’ FIDE rating championship at St Xavier  Welfare Centre and Community Hall Chaibasa from August 5 to 9.

Rated 130 players from nine states have got their names registered for participation.

Giving this information, West Singhbhum District Chess Association (WSDCA) general secretary Basant Khandelwal today said that this is the second time the district is hosting all India level FIDE rating chess championship in a span of four years.

Rungta Steel has sponsored this prestigious national-level tournament in which a total of Rs 75,000 cash reward would be distributed among the rating participants. “Besides it, winners of under-7 and under-15 boys and girls would be also given cash prize money,” said general secretary Khandelwal.
West Singhbhum Chess Association official said that since the tournament is of national level and players are coming from different parts of the country, boarding arrangement has been made in Rajasthan Bhawan and Rungta Marriage House.

Khandelwal said this tournament would provide exposure to the local players and they would perform in state and national-level tournaments.
