Jamshedpur, March 17: The court of District and Sessions judge, Chaibasa on Friday sentenced a 35-year-old woman Anita Devi to rigorous life imprisonment after finding her guilty in the murder of her husband.

Anita Devi alias Anita Singh had on January 25, 2017 murdered her husband Rajiv Kumar Singh before hanging the body in the ceiling fan at their residence under Chaibasa Mufassil thana area in West Singhbhum district.

Rajiv Kumar Singh, a resident of Dayalpur at Kahalgaon in Bhagalpur district, was a Jharkhand state government employee and was posted at Chaibasa.

According to prosecution, Anita Devi had murdered her husband as she wanted to get the government job on compassionate ground.  The convict had, therefore, hung the body so that be considered as a suicidal death.

But the complaint made by the deceased’s parents led the police to investigate the case scientifically and after a prolonged probe it came out to be a murder case on November 26, 2017.

The woman was convicted in the case on the basis of the prosecution witnesses, autopsy report and the police investigation.

Anita Devi has also been slapped a penalty of Rs 10,000 by the court.
