Patna, Sept 28: Days after PM Modi’s announcement, the international airport in Chandigarh has been renamed Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Chandigarh, in honour of independence hero Bhagat Singh on his birthday today.

The event’s guest, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his decision to rename the airport in honour of the legendary freedom warrior and said she felt honoured to be there.

“Through these small gestures, we are remembering the immense sacrifice the young men and women like Shaheed Bhagat Singh made during the freedom struggle,” she said.
