New Delhi, Sept 19: The Chandigarh University administration today suspended Rajvinder Kaur, the warden of its girls’ hostel, for suspected inappropriate behaviour with students following widespread student protests demanding action regarding the alleged leak of objectionable footage from its girls hostel. Additionally, the university is closed to new students until Saturday.

According to reports, the hostel warden who was shown in a viral video confronting the arrested female who is suspected of transmitting the films to guys outside of the university delayed calling the police. She allegedly reprimanded the girls when the students began their protest as well.

So far, three persons have been taken into custody in this matter. Following widespread student demonstrations, the accused girl and her boyfriend, a Shimla native, were both taken into custody.

The Chandigarh University students have refused to accept the police’s conclusion that there is no evidence, at least at this point, that the student recorded pornographic images of other ladies in the dormitory bathroom.

On the university’s campus, demonstrations broke out in response to ‘rumours’ that 60 or so videos of numerous female students had been captured. Students alleged that the management was attempting to hide suicide cases.

Police have asserted time and time again that there were no suicide attempts and that they have only so far discovered the recordings made by the accused and forwarded them to her lover.
