Chandigarh, Sept 19: Punjab’s Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said on Monday that a three-person all-women Special Investigation Team has been established on the orders of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to investigate the matter. The team will be led by senior IPS officer Gurpreet Deo.

In a video message, the senior cop requested for calm and warned people against spreading rumours on social media, assuring viewers that everyone’s privacy and dignity would be maintained.

The Chandigarh University administration earlier in the day suspended Rajvinder Kaur, the warden of its girls’ hostel, for suspected inappropriate behaviour with students following widespread student protests demanding action regarding the alleged leak of objectionable footage from its ladies’ hostel. Additionally, the university is closed to new students until Saturday.
