Chandil, June 11: A baby elephant died after being hit by a train on Sunday morning near Gunda Bihar station on the Chandil Muri railway line. It is being told that the age of the newborn elephant’s child is about two and a half months. On getting the news of the death of the baby elephant, a large number of villagers gathered there and started worshipping as a tribute. After hitting the train, the elephant’s head was badly mutilated. After being hit by the train, the baby elephant was dragged for about 100 meters.

The villagers immediately informed the officials of the Forest Department about this. As soon as the information was received, the officials of the Forest Department reached the spot and got involved in the investigation. In this regard, according to the information received from the Forest Department, a herd of elephants in the number of 19-20 is roaming in that area. It is possible that the herd of elephants was crossing the railway track, during which the baby elephant got hit by the train, due to which it died.

Earlier, an old elephant died a few days ago in the Ichagarh block area under the Chandil forest area. At that time, it was told by the forest department that the elephant died due to its old age.
