Chatra, June 5: Kiran Singh who is the wife of NTPC’s chairman and managing director Gurdeep handed over a cheque of Rs 2.94 lakh to the parents of a national-level shooter Shobha Rani to purchase an advanced rifle. Kiran who is president of the Samyukta Ladies Club and Amita Bhattacharya, a senior member of the Sanyukta Ladies Club visited NTPC, North Karanpura in a two-day visit with their husbands and attended the function to handover the cheque.
A special cultural programme, on this occasion, was also presented. A special focus of the entire programme was community development works, where NTPC North Karanpura sponsored Shobha Rani, a national rank holder shooter of Chatra by providing her with an amount of Rs. 2,94,000 to purchase a Walther LG400 Anatomic E-Rifle. As Shobha, a resident of Giddhore was not present, the cheque was given to her father.
Beautician Kits were also distributed by the dignitaries to the participants of the ongoing beautician programme which is being conducted by VLC. During the program, dignitaries were briefed on the noble initiative of tie-up with the USHA Silai School, a project to improve the sewing abilities of women from local villages.
Kiran Singh in her address lauded the activities of the Ladies club, especially in the field of CSR. She urged them to wholeheartedly participate in club activities and live like a family. She also advised them to contribute to the development of nearby areas.
