Chennai Rains: Traffic movement affected, CM visits rain-affected areas

Chennai, Nov 7: The traffic movement on Guindy-Koyambedu road has been affected due to water logging as a result of heavy rainfall in Chennai.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin visited the rain affected areas of Perambur Barracks road, Otteri Bridge and Padi. The CM, along with cabinet colleagues, also distributed flood assistance, including rice, milk and blankets to people housed in a temporary shelter.

As many as four NDRF teams were deployed to assist in rescue operations across the city in case there’s an emergency.

The Indian Metrological Department (IMD) has given a ‘red’ category warning, indicating heavy rains in Tamil Nadu and neighboring Puducherry on Sunday. IMD also predicted ‘moderate’ rain in the city till November 11. For Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Puducherry, Kerala, Karnataka and Coastal Andhra Pradesh, heavy rainfall has been predicted till November 11.

Notably, several parts of Chennai reported extensive water logging on Sunday morning after the city recorded heavy overnight rains.
