New Delhi, Jan 20: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday after allegations that the Chinese Army seized a 17-year-old boy from Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Siang area.
“Just a few days before Republic Day a young boy, the future of India, was kidnapped by China. We stand with the family of Miram Taron and will not give up hope… will not give up,” Gandhi said.
“The Prime Minister’s silence is his statement… he doesn’t care,” he tweeted.

Gandhi’s rage comes a day after MP Tapir Gao claimed that the China People’s Liberation Army had kidnapped the boy from the Lungta Jor district of the northeastern state.

His friend escaped from PLA and reported to the authorities.

Gao told PTI over the phone from Ziro, the Lower Subansiri district headquarters, that Taron’s companion, Johny Yaiying, managed to flee and informed authorities about the kidnapping.
Taron and Yaiying are both local hunters, according to the MP.
The reported incident occurred near the Tsangpo River’s entry into India; when the Tsangpo enters Arunachal Pradesh, it becomes the Siang River, and when it enters Assam, it becomes the Brahmaputra River.
“All agencies of the Government of India are requested to step up for his early release,” Mr Gao posted online, tagging the Prime Minister, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and the Indian Army in his tweets.
The PLA abducted five youngsters from the Upper Subansiri district in September 2020. They were freed a week later, but not before the Indian Army intervened to calm things down.
In March of the same year, the Chinese kidnapped a 21-year-old guy from the same location, but he was freed after the Indian Army intervened.
