New Delhi, Oct.5: Months after splitting away, Chirag Paswan and his uncle Pashupati Paras have adopted new party names and symbols. The Election Commission’s decision comes days after their feud resulted in the Lok Janshakti Party’s name and symbol being put on hold (a bungalow).
The Election Commission replied to rival allegations by the two sides with the move against the LJP, which was founded in 2000 by former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, Chirag Paswan’s late father, ahead of by-elections in Bihar for two seats – Kusheshwar Asthan and Tarapur – on October 30.
While Chirag Paswan, 38, was given the party name he wanted – Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) – and the symbol of a ‘helicopter,’ Pasupati Paras was given the name Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party and the symbol of a ‘sewing machine,’ according to the Election Commission.
Both the leaders were asked to give separate names and symbols for the by polls by 1 pm on Monday.
