Patna: Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Chirag Paswan on Friday asserted that the INDIA alliance will disintegrate before the upcoming Bihar elections, citing growing discord among its constituents. Paswan’s comments came in response to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s recent statement that the alliance was formed only for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking to reporters outside Raj Bhavan after meeting Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Paswan quipped, “The INDIA alliance has already been dismantled by its own members. This fragmented opposition has no future.”
Opposition’s Disunity Highlighted
Paswan took a dig at the opposition’s cohesion, stating that several constituent parties have openly questioned the alliance’s longevity. “The opposition is clearly divided. We’ve seen such fragile coalitions come together and fall apart many times before. The Congress, rejected by the people of India, is now being sidelined by its own allies,” he remarked.
Criticism of Tejashwi Yadav
Targeting Tejashwi Yadav, Paswan dismissed his remarks about the INDIA alliance, alleging that the RJD leader often makes empty statements during election periods. “Tejashwi has developed a habit of making baseless claims before every election, but the results are always evident to everyone,” Paswan added.
Doubts Over Opposition Unity
Paswan also questioned the opposition’s ability to present a united front during elections, expressing skepticism about their coherence in Bihar. “The opposition lacks both leadership and a common agenda. I do not believe they will remain united when election time comes,” he said.
