CIP conducts two-day workshop on ‘Ill Practices of Witch Hunting’

Ranchi, July 12: The Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP) in collaboration with the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS), organised a two-day workshop in the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Hehal, Ranchi to discuss the ill practise of witch hunting.

Tuesday, notably marked the second day of the workshop, which started with an interactive discussion by Mittu Muthu Varghese, Assistant professor of CIP on the topic of Women’s Mental Health Issues. She discussed the effects of substance abuse on the body of women, and the effects of anxiety on a day to day living of the people. She also spoke about the importance of having a positive attitude and outlook towards the life of people.

Soon, a question and answer session was conducted in which the participants asked the doubts and questions that each person was having. Further HOD of the Department of Psychiatric Social Work Dr Dipanjan Bhattacharjee addressed the gathering on the overall concept of mental health.

Vidhi Mandloi further conducted an informative session creating awareness of the mental health services available in CIP. She created awareness of the working of different departments, the process of availing treatment and the affordable cost of treatment. Later emergency numbers for mental health care were manually shared with the participants.

The workshop then came to an end with a feedback session followed by a question hour where participants clarified their queries with the resource persons.
