Ranchi, Feb.12: BJP State President cum Rajya Sabha MP Deepak Prakash has targeted the Hemant Soren government on the corruption spread in the circle offices of Jharkhand.
He said that the pendency of cases of mutation in circle offices is sufficient to narrate the story of corruption in the state.
“The circle office has become a den of loot and corruption. No work is being done without giving bribes. There is a nefarious nexus of land mafia and corrupt officials. On the one hand, government land is being sold openly with the connivance of officers and mafia, while on the other hand, genuine occupants and raiyats are being compelled to run from pillar to post for mutation,” Prakash said.
“The Chief Minister says that the government will not tolerate corruption at any cost but officers and employees keep the public work pending,” he added.
He alleged the government of behaving like mute spectators.
“The government is watching everything. The talk of strict action by the government is only an eyewash. Everything is being done under the patronage of the government,” he further said.
Comparing Soren’s government with the BJP government he said: “The Raghubar government had ordered automatic mutation after the registry to prevent malpractices at the time of mutation, but the present government has given a free hand to loot in all departments. The concept of transparent governance is also meaningless as the bidding is done to get posting in circle offices, blocks and police stations. The government has no control over any officer.”
Explaining the modus operandi of loot in the circle office, Prakash said: “Now a new way of loot is being adopted. Instead of keeping the mutation cases pending, land buyers and raiyats are being exploited by canceling the application itself. Common people are getting sweaty in getting mutations done. Out of 2.77 lakh applications filed in circle offices as many as 1.49 lakh have been rejected. At present around 10,000 applications are pending in Ranchi itself. Whereas the number of pending applications filed in the entire state is close to 68000. Common people are compelled to fall prey to the touts.”
