Jamshedpur, July 22: On the directive of sub-divisional officer Dhalbhum and deputy controller of Civil Defence Jamshedpur Piyush Sinha, a drug-free awareness campaign in various areas of Jamshedpur, kicked off today.

Under the campaign, young artistes of Geeta Theater staged a street play named “Nasha Kare Nash” at Chhayanagar.

It was shown in the play how drug addiction destroys a flourishing family.

It was presented in front of the local audience. The street play showed how a rich boy befriends a poor boy for his own benefit and gets him to buy drugs and makes him addicted to drugs and on the other side the poor boy’s mother cries in distress.

Those present in the street play  take oath  to stay away from drugs and everyone says in one voice “Nasha kare naash”.

Civil Defence officer Suresh Prasad, divisional warden Balbant Singh, volunteers Nagendra Kumar, Uttam Chakraborty and Tahir Hussain were present in the programme.

The play featured Geeta Kumari as a victim mother, Tushar Karan as a rich boy, Abhiranjan Kumar as a poor boy and Prem Dixit as a civil defense officer.

Notably, of late drug addiction is rampant in various parts of steel city. Innocent youth are falling prey to drug addiction, which is a matter of serious concern.
