Ranchi, Aug.26: Chief justice of Jharkhand High Court Dr Ravi Ranjan showed faith in the court of Justice S.K.Dwivedi, who had stopped hearing the case related to the death of sub-inspector Rupa Tirkey after Advocate General (AG) Rajeev Ranjan raised some objections in the court.

Ranjan had shown his reluctance in filing his important submission before the court in the form of an affidavit on August 13. This aggrieved Justice Dwivedi and he sent the matter before the chief justice for administrative decision.

The Chief justice, after being aware of the situation, showed faith in the court of Justice Dwivedi and directed him to continue hearing in the petition as usual.

Following the direction, the petition demanding CBI probe in Tirkey’s death case was listed for hearing in the court of Dwivedi and the matter was heard there.

As the hearing started, the petitioner filed a petition to start contempt proceedings against the AG and additional AG of the state and the court fixed the fate of August 31 for hearing on this.

On August 13 Justice Dwivedi had asked AG Ranjan to file his submission in the form of an affidavit when the later on the beginning of hearing submitted before the court that the petitioner’s advocate Rajeev Kumar on August 11 was heard saying that 200 percent the matter is going to be allowed.  Submitting that, he had urged Justice Dwivedi to remove the matter from the cause list of his court.

AG Ranjan showed reluctance to file his submission in an affidavit form. He was of the opinion that whatever he had submitted before the court verbally was sufficient to delist the matter from that court. On which the court directed the registry to place the matter before the Chief Justice for administrative decision.

Hearing in the petition had started on June 17 this year.

The petition arose after Rupa was found hanging at Sahibganj on May 3 and the matter hogged the limelight with a suspicion that she was provoked to commit suicide by someone close to the chief minister.

Police arrested a batch mate of Rupa in this connection saying he provoked her for suicide but very few bought the logic of police.

Common perception remained that someone close to the chief minister was involved in the case and the government is trying to save him.
