Class 12th girl commits suicide by hanging in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Aug 18: A teenage girl who was a student of Sacred Heart Convent committed suicide by hanging at her house in Bangali Colony under the Sitaramdera Thana area past midnight.

The deceased Ananya Pal was the only child of her parents and was studying in the plus two level.

At the time Ananya took the drastic step her father Prashanjeet Pal had gone to night shift duty at Tata Motors Ltd where he works.

The girl had bolted the room’s door from inside and when her mother found it bolted, she tried to get her daughter to open the door. After making repeated knocks on the door in futile, she got anxious and called in the neighbours who broke open the door to find Ananya hanging from the ceiling fan.

Sitaramdera Thana OC, Bhushan Kumar said the girl was rushed to Tata Motors Hospital in Telco where the doctors on emergency duty declared her dead.

“The reason behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained as the bereaved family members have not given a statement to this effect,” said the OC while talking to lagatar24.com.

Kumar said that they have sent the body to the MGM medical college mortuary for postmortem, adding that investigation into the suicide by the teenager is on.
