Ranchi, Aug 17: Diwakar Singh, a clerk working in the office of the Ranchi District Education Officer, has been accused of bribery through a letter to Education Secretary Rajesh Sharma.
The person making the allegation, in the letter has claimed that Singh calls himself Bada babu despite not being so. The letter further claims that he does not work without money, and demands as little as Rs 100-200 for tea or water.
The allegations further state that he was suspended a few months ago but joined the same office in the same position. The letter claims that Singh demands money from teachers in the name of education officials and says that the officials are on duty only for three months and aims to earn as much money as possible.
Present DEO Kamala Singh and Secretary Rajesh Sharma could not be contacted in this regard. However, when contacted, former DEO Arvind Vijay Bilung said, “He has been posted in the DEO office.” When asked about him being suspended earlier, he said that the directorate and department had taken the decision.
Meanwhile, when contacted, Diwakar Singh said, “I am innocent. All the allegations leveled against me are baseless and wrong. I also want that there be a fair investigation so that the truth can come out. Whoever comes to the office with their work, full cooperation is given to them.”
He further demanded that proof of his said misdemeanor be brought to fore, even in the form of a teacher that he has harassed in any way. He further added, “Whoever has complained against me has concealed their identity. They should come forward.”
On the question of suspension, he said he was cleared of all charges after a thorough investigation. After he was proven innocent, the department ended the suspension and brought him back to work.
