Ranchi, Aug.17: On the second day of its three-day Jharkhand visit an 11-member National Human Right Commission team headed by its chairperson, Justice Arun Mishra, today gave a look to two mental asylums, RINPAS and CIP.
The team heard the problems of the officials of the two mental asylums and gave positive assurance to play its pro active role to get rid of it.
RINPAS director Jayati Simlai confirmed the visit saying the team was made aware of the problem of sending discharged patients to their homes and poor staff strength. On which the commission gave positive assurance saying it will extend all help to ensure that discharged patients reach their home. The team members also stressed upon the need of providing proper diet to patients.
Director Simlai said that the team also visited some wards and to have firsthand experience of patient care and observed the food menu.
Tomorrow there will be a workshop on the topic, ’RINPAS and CIP: Issues and Challenges”, she said.
CIP director B. Das said that during the visit of the NHRC team in his institute, team members were made aware of the facilities being provided to patients.
