Jamshedpur, Jan 30: Chief Minister Hemant Soren today said that the BJP is trying to destabilize the JMM- led UPA government in Jharkhand through the Governor.
Referring to the 1932 Domicile Bill which was returned by the Governor on Sunday, the chief minister said, “1932 vidheyak wapas kiya yeh nayi baat nahin hai. BJP ki sarkar dwara Rajyapal ke madhyam se sarkar ko pareshan karne ka kam kar rahe hain. Yeh Delhi ya Andaman Nicobar nahin hai yah Jharkhand hai. Yahan Sarkar jo chahegi vahi lagu hoga.” (Returning of the domicile bill by the Governor is not new. The BJP is trying to destabilize the government through the Governor. This is not Delhi or for that matter Andaman Nicobar. This is Jharkhand, whatever the government wishes it will be implemented), ” said the chief minister addressing a huge gathering, as a part of Khatiyani Johar Yatra at the Birsa Munda Stadium in adjoining Seraikela- Kharsawan district this afternoon.
The chief minister reached the venue late. He was supposed to reach by 12.30 pm but the chopper carrying him landed at the helipad made at the Kashinath Sahu College ground at around 2.50 pm.
At the venue of the rally, the chief minister was accompanied by his cabinet colleagues Champai Soren, Satyanand Bhokta , Banna Gupta, party MLAs -Savita Soren, Ramdas Soren and several other senior JMM leaders.
Notably, amidst Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s Khatiyani Johar Yatra, Governor Ramesh Bais yesterday returned the 1932 Domicile Bill passed by the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly in November 2022 for further review of its legality in accordance with the Constitution as well as the Supreme Court orders.
The bill proposes to define locals in Jharkhand, created on November 15 2000, on the basis of 1932 khatiyan (land records) and reserve the class III and IV jobs for them.
The chief minister is on a statewide tour as a part of Johar Yatra. He will reach Jamshedpur late in the evening. Tomorrow he will attend several functions in the steel city including a rally at the Gopal Maidan in Bistupur.
The chief minister declared that he will continue with the Khatiyani Johar Yatra.
Incidentally, the Governor has also sent another bill to the Attorney General’s opinion by which the JMM-led government reserved 77 percent government jobs for the underprivileged sections of society.
Referring to this the chief minister said that people here should get reservation in jobs, as a separate state was created.
Coming down heavily on the BJP, the chief minister said, ” The work of filling the pocket was done by the government of double engine. As it stopped now, they are to hinder the development of the state.”
