Ranchi, Sept 29: A delegation of the Roller Skating Association today met Chief Minister Hemant Soren and thanked him for starting the work on the skating rink.

The Association said that the State Government is working hard to encourage sports in Jharkhand. “It is believed that the construction of the International Skating Rink will be completed on time,” it said.

Notably, Sports Minister Hafizul  Hasan Ansari yesterday laid the foundation stone for Jharkhand’s first skating ring at Eklavya Teerandazi Centre, Morhabadi ground.

The demand for the roller skating rink has been pending for several years. Due to the unavailability of a skating ring, players had to travel to other states for practice. After the construction of the skating ring in Jharkhand, players will not have to move to other states for practice. The Sports Minister informed that  Rs3.34 crore is to be spent on this rink and this rink will be of International level.

The minister, on this occasion, also announced the renovation of the Hockey Stadium in Ranchi and Khunti.

The astroturf at Ranchi’s Jaipal Singh Munda Hockey stadium and S.S Plus Two School, Khunti will be changed. Jaipal Singh Munda stadium at Ranchi Morhabadi ground will be renovated soon and Rs14.04 crores will be spent on this. For this blue Astroturf (Politian) will be applied and increase the number of audiences. Other facilities will be enhanced so that International matches could also take place here. Other than the changing room, a commentary room will be constructed. Astroturf of blue colour will be also applied at S.S Plus Two School, Khunti and for this amount of Rs-14.86 crore will be spent.

“Full focus will be given on the development of sports and players. The present government is working on this that players should be directly recruited and they will not face any problem while practicing; they will be provided all kinds of facilities. If anyone faces any kind of issue they can directly contact him. In the domain of sports especially Hockey and football Jharkhand state will be on the top,” said the sports minister.
