Ranchi, Jan 29: Mayor Asha Lakra on Saturday said that after orders from Chief Minister Hemant Soren, street hawkers are being removed from the Morhabadi ground. She claimed that after the murder, the CM is removing these shops to hide his own failures. She said that such a step will not help in making the city crime free.
The Mayor said that under the cover of the murder, the state government is working to destroy the poor of the city. During the tenure of former CM Raghubar Das, preparations were made to settle the poor before their shops were removed or destroyed. But the Soren government is bent on disrupting the survival of the poor.
Notably, after the order of the Ranchi Municipal Corporation to remove the shops released on Friday, the concerned shopkeepers sat on a strike outside the Mayor’s residence. The shopkeepers requested the mayor for justice. The Mayor has demanded the government that arrangements be made to shift the shopkeepers to some other place, just in case criminals make Morhabadi ground their base. She further added that demolition of poor shopkeepers cannot solve criminal problems.
Mayor Lakra said that the Home Ministry is the responsibility of CM Hemant Soren. He is responsible for the security arrangements of the 24 districts of the state. She claimed that the CM is not only shying away from his responsibilities, but is also harassing the poor shopkeepers to hide his own flaws. Unless a fear of police and the law is created amid criminals, curbing incidents will not be a possibility.
