New Delhi, Aug 22: In accordance with the Prevention of Corruption Act, the Special Court of Delhi on Tuesday sentenced Gautam Kumar Basak, a former executive secretary of the Joint Plant Committee (JPC), Ministry of Steel, to three years of rigorous imprisonment in connection with a corruption case concerning coal block allocation.
Basak was sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment on Tuesday by Special Judge Arun Bhardwaj, who also imposed a fine of Rs 5 lacks.
This conviction was the 14th in cases involving coal. Sanjay Kumar, the CBI’s deputy legal advisor, conducted the trial in this case.
Last week, Gautam Kumar Basak was found guilty by Special Judge Arun Bhardwaj in accordance with Sections 13(2) and 13(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988.
