Jamshedpur, Nov 15: Cold wave condition was prevailing in isolated pockets of western Jharkhand on Tuesday. Several places in western parts of the state saw an abrupt fall in minimum readings.
The minimum readings fluctuated between 9 -10 degrees Celsius in several places including Daltangonj, headquarters of Palamau, Latehar, Garwah and Ramgarh.
The minimum reading also fluctuated between 9-10 degree Celsius at Simdega and its adjoining areas during the past 24 – hours.
A cold wave condition is declared when the minimum reading drops five notches below the normal.
Ranchi, Bokaro, Giridih, Deoghar and several other places in central and northeastern parts of the state recorded minimum recording between 11 and 12 degree Celsius.
The minimum reading fluctuated between 14-15 degree Celsius in Jamshedpur and several other parts of the Kolhan region.
Weathermen said a Western Disturbance as a trough in mid-tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level was today running roughly along Long. 67°E to the north of Lat. 29°N.
However, weathermen said the western disturbance would not have any impact in Jharkhand.
A duty officer at Ranchi Met Centre said the minimum reading is expected to witness a slight rise in the next 24 hours after which the Celsius would again witness a drop.
