Ranchi: Jharkhand continues to reel under severe cold conditions, with minimum temperatures in seven districts dropping below 7°C, intensifying discomfort for residents across the state.
Seven Districts Record Sub-7°C Minimum Temperatures
The districts where minimum temperatures have fallen below 7°C include Daltonganj, Bokaro, Chaibasa, Khunti, Lohardaga, Seraikela and Hazaribagh. Hazaribagh recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 2.9°C, while Ranchi registered a minimum of 8°C. The highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded in Chaibasa at 28.8°C.
Cold Wave Alert Issued for 13 Districts
The Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave alert for January 9 across 13 districts, including Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Koderma, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Lohardaga, Gumla, Khunti, Garhwa, Chatra, Palamu and Latehar. According to the department, there is unlikely to be any significant change in minimum temperatures over the next two days.

For areas around Ranchi, the forecast indicates a maximum temperature of 21°C and a minimum of 9°C on January 9, 22°C/9°C on January 10, 23°C/7°C on January 11, and 22°C/6°C on January 12, suggesting continued cold conditions.
