Cold wave returns, Delhi shivers at 2.4°C; expect relief from Jan 19

New Delhi, Jan 17: Delhi witnessed bone-chilling weather conditions on Tuesday morning as the mercury dropped to 2.4 degrees Celcius.

North and northwest India with the minimum temperature settling in the range of one to three degrees Celsius in many parts. Northern India counting Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Haryana, continued to have frosty winds.

Delhi’s Safdarjung observatory recorded a minimum temperature of 2.4°C whereas in Lodhi the mercury dropped to 2° and 2.8° at Ayanagar on Tuesday morning.

The cold wave conditions will subside from January 19 under the influence of two western disturbances which are likely to affect the region in quick succession, said the Indian meteorological department(IMD).

Notably, There are some areas where the temperature falls below zero in parts of the country. Churu in Rajasthan recorded -2.7°C, and in Alwar, the temperature was at 0.5° and Haryana’s Hisar recorded -1.3°C.

it is reported that these areas are colder than Shimla as Himachal recorded 6°C on Tuesday.

Due to western disturbances affecting the Himalayan region, the wind passing through the northern parts of the country, experiencing clouds, windy weather and fog in several parts of Jharkhand today. The minimum temperature recorded in Ranchi, Jharkhand ranges between 9-10°C.

The weather department said on Monday the conditions of north-west India from the cold wave will get relief.
