Daltonganj, Jan 4: In a tripartite agreement held between the auto drivers and contractor of the parking area of the Daltonganj railway station where the town police acted as an intervener, the auto drivers will now pay Rs.40 as parking fee every day for 12-hour parking.

This order will be effective till January 31. Sources said that the contractor was insisting on Rs. 60 for three hours of parking on the station premise.

From February, the parking fee will be increased to Rs.45 for the same 12-hour slot till 2023.

SP Palamu Chandan Kumar Sinha said that he sent officer in charge of town police station A K Mahatha and traffic in-charge R Saras to solve this issue which they did to the satisfaction of all the stakeholders.

The auto-rickshaw parking issue at the Daltonganj railway station premise was most powerfully raised in the Monday community policing show held in Daltonganj.

“Our police officials have broken the ice. The 12-hour slot would be counted from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Earlier, the contractor of the parking space used to deprive the autorickshaw drivers of three hours every day asking them to push off from the railway parking space at 7 in the evening.

OC Mahatha, one of the chief negotiators of this tripartite agreement said that all stakeholders are now calm and content.

The auto drivers have agreed to pay Rs. 40 for 12-hour parking till January 31 and Rs. 45 from February.

“This positive outcome is the offshoot of the community policing chaired by the SP Palamu,” said OC Mahatha.
