Ranchi, Jan 20: Several competitions are going to be organised by the district administration in virtual mode in view of the corona infection on the occasion of National Voters’ Day which is going to be celebrated across the country on January 25.
The information came to the fore during a virtual meeting held today regarding the preparation of the National Voters’ Day under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Chhavi Ranjan.
During the meeting it was decided that following the guidelines related to Covid-19 in all schools and educational institutions, this year on National Voters’ Day, according to the theme “Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible and Participative” set by the Election Commission, debate, discussion, painting, drawing, essay and various other types of competition will be organised in online mode.
The DC directed officials to organize a swearing-in program by the head of the office in all the offices on Voters’ Day. Oaths to be taken by voters will also be online only. Also, photographs, videos of the Voter’s Pledge being read online can be uploaded on social media using #NVD2022.
In the meeting, the DC directed all the seven EROs to organize various programs for voter awareness in their respective constituencies. During the meeting, Deputy Election Officer Ramvriksha Mahato said that the public would be able to see the program organized on Voters’ Day through the YouTube link.
On National Voters’ Day, the DC appealed to the people of the district, especially the youth, that a Voter ID card is not just address proof and ID card.
“You get the right to vote under the Constitution and People who are 18 or above 18 years of age are an integral part of democracy. If you are aware then you can play your part in democracy,” DC said.
