Jamshedpur, July 17: A sense of uncertainty prevails on intermediate admission at the Jamshedpur Women’s University.
Girl students and their parents are in a fix as enrollment is not happening.
The Sidhgira-based Jamshedpur Women’s University, the state’s first such university has not yet taken any decision regarding admission in intermediate.
Notably, there is a good demand for admission in the two-year intermediate course in all three faculties – Science, Commerce and Arts.
Various student outfits have been building pressure on the university regarding admission in intermediate courses but to no relief.
University officials said that they haven’t received any directive in this regard from the state education department.
As per the instructions of the University Grants Commission (UGC), intermediate courses cannot run in a university or degree college campus.
The recognition of the 12th standard may also be in jeopardy, under which the university receives grants from the UGC.
According to university officials, the recent order of the state government with regard to intermediate admission is applicable for constituents and affiliated and is not meant for the university.
The National Education Policy of India -2020 also states that classes IX to XII should be under the purview of school education.
Students and parents are flocking to the university campus for admissions in intermediate courses but to no avail.
The university runs courses in under-graduation, post-graduation, research and 11 vocational certificate and degree courses on its campus.
