Dhanbad, Dec 17: A state of confusion is prevailing among the doctors appointed by the state government in Sadar hospitals of different districts of Jharkhand under one-year bond service.

The state government has appointed 116 fresh doctors in five medical colleges and Sadar hospitals of districts under one year bond who have recently completed PG and diploma from Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) Ranchi and Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) Jamshedpur.

However, doctors who have been assigned to Sadar hospitals have complained that the health administration has placed them in district hospitals without giving them a choice, while some of their batchmates have been assigned to medical colleges as senior residents.

“At the time of assistant professor appointment, senior residents would undoubtedly be deemed senior to the doctors of Sadar Hospital. For the position of assistant professor, senior residentship experience is required. As a result, partiality has been done with our deployment,” said one of the doctors.

Among the 116 doctors, 61 have been deployed on the post of senior residents and 18 on tutor posts in five medical colleges while others have been posted in Sadar hospitals of different districts. The doctors who have been deployed in Sadar hospital have been given the post of surgeon, physician, paediatrician, eye specialist, skin specialist.

However, Director Medical Education of state health department Dr. Arun Kumar when contacted denied any bias in the deployment of PG passed doctors at medical colleges and the district Sadar hospitals.

Dr. Arun said that all 116  PG passed doctors have been appointed on one year bond and they will equally get Rs 75,000 per month. They will lose their job when their contract expires.

“Meanwhile, where seniority is concerned, the government has not decided over this issue. Since the appointment of assistant professor in medical colleges is done through Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), one-year bond service will not be counted in regular enrolment,” said Dr Arun Kumar.
