Dhanbad, Aug 25: Confusion prevails among lawyers over the visit of the Jharkhand State Bar Council (JSBC) team to probe the resignation of some newly elected Dhanbad Bar Association office bearers.
Jharkhand State Bar Council secretary advocate Rajesh Pandey has constituted a six-member committee to resolve the crisis that cropped up in the Dhanbad Bar Association following the resignation of some newly elected office bearers and probe their allegations.
But state JSBC chairman advocate Rajendra Krishna has denied forming any committee for the Dhanbad Bar Asociation.
When contacted, the chairman said that he had no knowledge about any committee constituted for the Dhanbad Bar Association probe. “Ask it from Dhanbad lawyers. I have no information about it,” he said over the phone.
Dhanbad Bar Association president Amrendra Kumar Sahay also said that he has neither information nor he received any mail from the Jharkhand State Bar Council regarding any probe.
“I have not received any mail till date from the Jharkhand State Bar Council over committee. Mail may come today but I have no information about it,” said president Sahay.
However, the vice-president of the Dhanbad Bar Association Dhaneswar Mahto claimed that he had received a mail from the JSBC secretary Rajesh Pandey regarding the visit of a six-member committee to solve the crisis in the Dhanbad Bar Association.
“State Bar Council secretary Rajesh Pandey has sent the mail to all concerned office bearers of the Bar,” said Mahto.
The crisis appeared in the first week of this month when nine elected office bearers, including vice-president Dhaneswar Mahto, joint secretary Kedar Nath Mahto, Treasurer Meghnath Rawani, assistant treasurer Dipak Shah and five executive members Anil Trivedi, Lalan Gupta, Bharti Srivastava, Rajan Pal and Vijay Pandey sent their resignation.
Taking cognizance of resignations, the JSBC secretary Rajesh Pandey issued a letter (August 22) constituting a six-member committee comprising advocates Baleswar Prasad Singh, Amar Kumar Singh, Parmeswar Mandal, Raj Kumar, Hemant Kumar Sikarwar and Anil Kumar Mahto to visit Dhanbad and solve the crisis.
The election of the Dhanbad Bar Association was held in the first week of June and nine elected office bearers resigned in the first week of August in protest against the working style of the president and secretary.
Dhanbad Bar Association president Amrendra Kumar Sahay said he has not received the resignation of any office-bearer.
A member of the Bar Association said that all nine office bearers sent their resignation directly to the Jharkhand State Bar Council. However, they continue to be discharging their responsibility in the association.
