New Delhi, April 9: The Congress on Sunday selected BN Chandrappa as the working president of its state unit days before the Karnataka Assembly elections.
According to a party announcement, Chandrappa has been named the working president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.
Notably, DK Shivakumar is the leader of the Karnataka division. Following the passing of Karnataka Congress working president R Dhruvanarayana last month, Mr. Chandrappa was appointed. A total of 142 candidates have been announced by Congress as of now.
In Karnataka, the only southern state where the BJP is in power, Congress is attempting to overthrow the saffron party.
The 224-member parliament will be chosen in elections on May 10, and the results will be announced on May 13.
