New Delhi: The Congress on Thursday launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over allegations of misappropriation of donations for the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, bringing the issue back into the spotlight.

Jairam Ramesh Questions PM’s Consent

Congress MP and general secretary Jairam Ramesh asked in a post on X why the Prime Minister had given his consent and become a partner in what he called a sin. Taking a jibe at the BJP and Hindutva organisations, the Congress also posted a rhyming slogan alleging that the BJP, RSS and VHP dream of making donation money their own.

Allegations of Theft of Offerings and Construction Donations

Ramesh alleged that it is not only offerings at the Ram temple that have been stolen, but that a “dacoity” was also committed on the thousands of crores of rupees donated by crores of people across the country for building the temple. He claimed that despite repeated questions raised by the opposition, no inquiry or action has followed on the allegations against people linked to the BJP, RSS and the Vishva Hindu Parishad.
