Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge briefly fell ill while addressing a rally in the Jasrota area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Sunday but is now stable, according to party leaders. Kharge, who was paying tribute to a head constable killed in an anti-terror operation in Kathua, experienced dizziness during his speech.
Kharge Feels Uneasy During Rally
Kharge, 83, began to feel dizzy while delivering his address, prompting his colleagues to help him to a chair. “He felt uneasy and dizzy during the rally. His colleagues helped him to a chair,” Congress leader Ghulam Ahmed Mir informed PTI, reassuring that Kharge’s condition had stabilized after the brief episode.
‘Not Going to Die So Early,’ Says Kharge
After recovering, Kharge resumed his speech and assured the crowd of his well-being. “I am 83 years old, I am not going to die so early,” he said, sparking cheers from the audience. In his usual fiery style, he added, “I will stay alive till PM Modi is removed from power,” taking a jab at the Prime Minister.
Kharge had traveled to Jasrota to campaign for Congress candidates in the upcoming assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir.
Son Priyank Kharge Gives Health Update
Later, his son and Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge provided a health update on social media, stating that his father had suffered from slightly low blood pressure but was doing well. “His resolve, along with people’s good wishes, keeps him going strong,” the junior Kharge noted.
Kharge’s Upcoming Rally in Udhampur
After the rally in Jasrota, Kharge was scheduled to address another public meeting in Ramnagar, Udhampur district. Jammu and Kashmir Congress vice president Ravindra Sharma said that Kharge was taken for a medical check-up after feeling dizzy, and doctors would determine whether he could attend the second rally.
