Ranchi: BJP’s Jharkhand in-charge Dr. Laxmikant Vajpayee on Monday accused the Congress of exhibiting a dual character over the Pahalgam terror attack and failing to take a firm stand against terrorism. Addressing a press conference at the party’s state headquarters, he said BJP workers across all districts in Jharkhand submitted memorandums to district collectors demanding immediate deportation of Pakistanis living in the state, in accordance with central government orders.
Centre revoked visas, states showing reluctance
Dr. Vajpayee stated that after the Pahalgam terror attack, the central government cancelled 14 categories of visas issued to Pakistani nationals and opened the Attari border for deportation. However, he alleged that in states ruled by the INDIA bloc, including Jharkhand, state governments were not acting promptly to identify and deport Pakistanis, calling it a result of appeasement politics.
Congress’s conflicting statements
He pointed out that Congress leaders change their stance regularly. While they support central government actions against Pakistan in all-party meetings, senior leaders from the same party later question the army and the government, which he said is a long-standing Congress habit. Quoting Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, former Punjab CM Charanjit Channi, and UP Congress president Ajay Rai, he claimed these statements were disrespectful to the armed forces.
Dr. Vajpayee criticised Ajay Rai for calling Rafale jets “toys,” even after their successful highway landings demonstrated India’s military strength. He said mocking the religious puja performed on Rafale jets reflects Congress’s anti-Sanatani mindset, the same mindset that once dismissed Lord Ram and the Ram Setu as mythical.
Congress has questioned surgical strikes too
Recalling the Pahalgam terror attack where 26 Hindus were allegedly killed after being identified by their faith, Vajpayee accused Congress of insulting the victims and the army by raising doubts. He reminded that the party had similarly questioned the validity of past surgical strikes.
He also criticised Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s ongoing “Save Constitution” campaign in Jharkhand, arguing that Congress itself had repeatedly disrespected the Constitution and its makers. Vajpayee cited the imposition of Emergency, support for Article 370, and the acceptance of India’s partition as examples of Congress’s betrayal of national unity.
Waqf amendment law protects tribal lands
He asserted that the Waqf Amendment Act is a protective shield for tribal lands in Schedule-5 regions like Jharkhand, but Congress is spreading misinformation against it due to its appeasement agenda.
Direct attack on Rahul Gandhi
Targeting Rahul Gandhi directly, he said the Congress leader has begun to remember the sins of his party. If Rahul wants to apologise, he should do so comprehensively—for accepting Partition, Emergency excesses, undermining reservations, minority appeasement, denying Lord Ram’s existence, toppling elected state governments, and misusing President’s rule.
Dr. Vajpayee concluded that the Congress has done nothing for the nation except loot and mislead its people.
