Ranchi, June 21: While hearing a petition filed by former minister and Congress leader Yogendra Sao for the quashing of a lower court judgement that condemned him to ten years in prison for his role in violence, the Jharkhand High Court called for lower court records (LCR).

After hearing the case through Sao’s counsel, Shubashish Rasik Soren, a division bench of Justice Rangon Mukhopadhyay and Justice Ambuj Nath issued the order.

Notably, in the Chirudih violence case, Additional Judicial Commissioner Vishal Srivastava sentenced Sao and his wife, former MLA Nirmala Devi, to ten years in prison on March 22, this year.

The court found both of them guilty of disrupting the work of an NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation) project under construction, attacking the police-administration, and inciting a mob to violence, arson, rioting, and attempted murder in 2016.
