Ranchi, July 8: Congress legislator Irfan Ansari today released a video exposing smuggling of sand from the state to West Bengal.
The video is said to have been prepared from a bridge connecting Dhanbad with Jamtara. In the video hundreds of dumpers were noticed carrying sand from Barakar River in violation of the ban imposed by the state government in the wake of the direction of National Green Tribunal.
In the 1.53 minute video the legislator was heard alleging district administration of Dhanbad for the illegal mining. He was also heard saying that the act is being done with the connivance of the Dhanbad district administration and police.
Contacted Dhanbad DC Sandeep Singh for his comment on the matter, he did not take call. Dhanbad SP Sanjiv Kumar passed the buck on Jamtara district administration saying ‘a probe has been started in the matter and the primary investigation suggests that area comes under the jurisdiction of Jamtara.’
When contacted Jamtara DC Faiz Aq Ahmed Mumtaz for his comment he directed the question to the DMO of his district Dilip Kumar.
DMO Kumar admitted the situation but said it was in the jurisdiction of the Dhanbad district administration.
The Congress shares power in the state as an ally of UPA. Thus when attempted to ask Ansari how come his party is not responsible for the act, he remained unreached.
The video was released in such a situation when the ED started conducting raids at different locations of chief minister Hemant Soren’s representative in Sahibganj Pankaj Mishra and a matter related to the shell companies allegedly related to Chief Minister Soren was heard by the Jharkhand High Court.
Through the video the legislator demands suspension of the Dhanbad DC.
