Ranchi, March 17: Congress MLA from Mandar Shilpi Neha Tirkey sees the RSS’ ugly design to convert ‘Adivasis’ into ‘Vanvasis’ in 35 Eklavya Model Residential Schools established by the union government in Jharkhand.
Tirkey, the daughter of former education minister Bandhu Tirkey, expressed her opinion in the Jharkhand assembly while opposing the BJP’s cut motion brought in response to the department’s budgetary demand for education and literacy, technical and higher education.
‘Yah RSS driven strategy hai … Adivasi ko Vanvasi mein convert Karen ka….’ Tirkey said.
The youngest legislator in the assembly explained that the state has no say in these schools and that their management is handled by an NGO.
When one of the BJP legislators asked Tirkey if she did not want these school projects to be implemented in Jharkhand, she said ‘no,’ adding that she wants the state government’s input.
Earlier in her speech, Tirkey mentioned Aryabhatta, Nalanda University, and Benaras Hindu University (BHU), as well as the glorious history of Indian education. She also discussed how government-aided private minority schools are performing well in the field of education in Jharkhand these days. She also discussed proper NAAC grading for educational institutions in Jharkhand in order to prevent meritorious students from leaving the state for quality education.
Tirkey compared the universities in Jharkhand while discussing Nalanda University and BHU. She stated that while university campuses used to be large, there are universities in Jharkhand that operate in two rooms and should be locked.
When Speaker Rabindranath Mahto heard her request, he informed the legislator that a two-member assembly committee, led by JMM legislator Stephen Marandi, had already been formed.
