Ranchi, March 30: Congress legislator Rajesh Kacchap will soon start a campaign to make the Electrical Equipment Factory (EEF), a unit of Bihar State Industrial Development Corporation Ltd (BSIDC Ltd), fully operational.
Kacchap, who had raised the issue of EEF in the recently concluded assembly session, told Lagatar 24.com explaining how a minor initiative from the state government can pave the path for thousands of jobs.
“If the state government pays Rs 18 crore to BSIDC Ltd, the EEF, which is an asset worth Rs 1000 crore, will become the Jharkhand government’s property. Once this happens, steps can be taken to make it operational and pave a path of not less than 4000 jobs. But apparently, officials of the industries department are not serious about it and when I raised the matter in the assembly they gave misleading information,” Kachhap, who represents the Khijri assembly constituency under which the unit falls, said.
“The government admitted that the EEF has been closed for a long time and 10-acre land in its southern area close to Tatisilwai acquired in 1962 is lying unused but denied having any information regarding the proposal of the Indian Railways to transfer the same land to it contrary to the knowledge I have gathered,” Kacchap added.
“The industries department officials washed their hands of the matter saying it related to the division of assets and liabilities and is pending before the Jharkhand High Court and Supreme Court, “ he further said.
EEF is a unit of Bihar State Industrial Development Corporation (BSIDCS). It was established to meet the needs of the Bihar State Electricity Board. Primarily this factory manufactures and repairs High Voltage transformers. Motors and generators are also manufactured on a small scale. Earlier when this factory was in good working conditions, there was a huge profit business happening in millions of rupees. Facilities initially available were clubs, guest house, kids’ playground, school bus and other transportation facilities. The unit has been sick since 1990.
