New Delhi: The Congress party has demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar publicly clarify the United States’ alleged role in mediating the recent India-Pakistan ceasefire following the Pahalgam terror attack. The party announced ‘Jai Hind Sabha’ rallies across 10–15 states and called for a special Parliament session to address national security concerns.

Congress cites Trump’s remarks, seeks answers

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said the party had raised repeated questions after former US President Donald Trump claimed that his intervention led to the ceasefire between the two countries. “PM Modi remains silent, and EAM Jaishankar hasn’t offered any explanation. This is unprecedented and deeply troubling,” Ramesh said, announcing that party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi would raise the issue publicly on May 16.

Congress backs armed forces but criticises Centre’s silence

Despite criticising the government’s lack of communication, the Congress reiterated full support for India’s armed forces and Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. However, Ramesh pointed out that PM Modi skipped both recent all-party meetings and has not addressed these serious questions. “The country deserves transparency when global powers claim involvement in our national security matters,” he added.

The party has urged the Centre to convene a special Parliament session to debate the Pahalgam attack and broader implications of foreign interference. With growing public and political attention on this issue, all eyes are now on whether the government will break its silence or maintain its current stance.
