Congress Prez Polls: Rahul Gandhi, Kharge vote in Karnataka

New Delhi, Oct 17: Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, leaders of the Congress party cast their ballots in Karnataka on Monday. Voting for the position of president is now taking place.

Kharge, a Rajya Sabha member from Karnataka, is running against Shashi Tharoor, a member of parliament from Thiruvananthapuram, for the position of party leader.

While Kharge voted at the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee headquarters in Bengaluru, Rahul Gandhi cast his ballot in a conference room container that had been transformed into a polling place at the Bharat Jodo Yatra camp site in Sanganakallu in the Ballari district.

Rahul Gandhi can be seen waiting in line with others, including Bengaluru Rural MP D K Suresh, before casting his ballot, according to photos released by the Congress.

On Monday, the Bharat Jodo Yatra’s designated “Rest Day,” over 40 more Bharat Yatris who are PCC delegates will also be casting their votes at the camp location in Sanganakallu.

D K Shivakumar, president of the state congress, and Siddaramaiah, leader of the opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, cast their ballots at the KPCC office in Bengaluru.

Election results will be announced on October 19.
