Ranchi, June13: The transfer of the Deputy Director of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of Ranchi zonal office, Subodh Kumar amid an ongoing money-laundering probe has kicked off a controversy as the Congress raised questions over the timing.
Jharkhand Congress president Rajesh Thakur alleged that some BJP leaders of Jharkhand were pressurizing the local unit to protect persons close to them from the money laundering probe.
“No wonder there may be any businessman whom the BJP leaders want to save in the ongoing probe. I heard that he was promoted and transferred. But the timing of the transfer raises doubt because he was said to be associated with the ongoing probe,” said Rajesh Thakur.
He said that the ED should explain the reasons for transferring him. “The ED is playing a thriller game in the name of the probe. It should clear doubts from the minds of people regarding his transfer and the manner in which the probe is going on,” he said.
He said that the ED probe has no transparency. It should be noted that the Congress on Monday nationally held a demonstration against the center allegedly targeting the Congress through the ED. The ED is investigating MNREGA and many other important cases connected with bureaucrats and politicians.
Notably, the independent MLA Saryu Roy also tweeted about his transfer.
