Ranchi, May 26: Tribals are regularly losing their control over land despite the government’s intention to check the same. One example has surfaced from the Tagore Hill area in the Jharkhand capital where construction work without approval of building plans is going on the tribal land to benefit non-tribal people.
An Adivasi Sena member residing in the locality, Vinod Oraon, informed this to Lagatar 24.com sharing some photographs of house construction work saying all these things are going under the patronage of Ranchi Municipal Corporation and those involved in the business are a section of tribals having connivance with non-tribal having contacts in the administration.
“Houses are being constructed without any approved building plan as the land where houses are being constructed belongs to tribals and those constructing the houses are non-tribals. In this case a building plan cannot be approved,” Oraon said.
Asked how non-tribals purchased land from tribals, he said: “Land brokers approached land owner Marium, who is an old lady, and the sale was executed on a plain paper after allurement. There is no mutation, no registration of the land. The entire area where illegal construction is going on is under ward no.4 of Ranchi Municipal Corporation.”
RMC officials suggested talking to outgoing ward Councillor Husna Ara saying local people associated with RMC will be able to share some details in the matter. “Though tenure of Ara ended on April 28, she must have knowledge in this regard.”
Contacted outgoing councillor of the ward 4, Husna Ara, for her comments, she expressed ignorance. “Such a case has not come into my knowledge so far. If this is happening, this is wrong,” she said.
Oraon said soon the Adivasi Sena will be raising the issue before government officials and ensure that no construction work in the Jharkhand capital takes place without an approved plan.
“Construction without an approved plan causes a long-term problem. The practice neither benefits a purchaser nor a seller nor the government. It just helps corrupt people. Recently, the ED has taken action in which even IAS officers are involved in illegal transfer of land in the Jharkhand capital. We do not want this to happen in our locality,” he said.
