Daltonganj, May 17: Cops and officials were sore on Tuesday due to poor management of refreshments, drinking water, and lunch at the Bairya based agricultural marketing yard’s counting venue where the first phase’s votes were being counted.

Cops and officials were pulled into action at the counting site at 6 a.m. today, and there was great resentment over the delay in water and food, among other things. The drinking water at the site was in high demand due to the scorching heat.

The dissatisfaction stemmed from poor delivery of food and water, which gave the impression that seniors were unconcerned about their plight during this particularly hot summer.

On the other hand, Surjit Kumar, the sub divisional police officer (SDPO), claimed that lunch was given on time. He even stated in the Palamu police and media WhatsApp group that food had been supplied to cops and officials.

However, according to sources, there was some evident irritation, so Palamu police had to come up with a note of food served.

When reminded of the inordinate delay in serving refreshments, SDPO Surjit Kumar said he will investigate.

Notably, the intense heat and slow pace of results have left everyone impatient. Sources said there will be three more counting episodes as Palamu has 4-phase panchayat polling.

Palamu DC Shashi Ranjan, SP Chandan Kumar Sinha and SDO Rajesh Kumar Sah kept their eyes on the counting venue.
