New Delhi, Aug 15: On the occasion of India’s 76th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the country from Red Fort while raising the national flag. This year’s ceremony on August 15 is especially noteworthy because it commemorates 75 years of India’s independence.

Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked dynasty and corruption, calling them the twin evils that India must fight to defeat. While addressing the nation from the Red Fort’s ramparts, he warned that dynasticism is hollowing out the nation’s institutions and frequently resulting in corruption.

“Corruption is damaging country like termite. The country will have to fight it… We have to weed out corruption,” he said.

“We need to come together as a society to punish those who have propagated evil of corruption. We are making efforts to seize properties of people who have fled the country. I request you all to help me fight corruption,” he added.

One of the main criticisms levelled by the BJP at the Congress is its use of dynastic politics. When the Samajwadi Party formed an alliance with Mayawati, insults like “bua-bhatija” and “bhai-bhatijawaad” were frequently used against the party.

Notably, after a series of state elections earlier this year, Prime Minister Modi claimed it was his choice not to field the kids of BJP MPs.
