Lakhimpur, Nov.3: The hearing on the bail application of Union Minister Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish and two others in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case has been postponed to November 15 by a court in Lakhimpur Kheri.
During a demonstration against Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya’s visit to Lakhimpur Kheri on October 3, eight persons were killed.
A car carrying BJP workers ran over four farmers and a journalist.
The 13 people detained in connection with the farmers’ deaths include Ashish Mishra, Ashish Pandey, and Lavkush Rana.
According to District Government Counsel Arvind Tripathi, the court of District and Sessions Judge Mukesh Mishra has postponed the hearing on their bail application to November 15.
Tripathi said that defence attorneys filed a motion in court seeking an explanation from the prosecution over a rumoured photo of a wounded BJP worker, Shyam Sundar Nishad, who was seen in police custody.
He was later pronounced dead at a hospital. After the automobile mowed down the farmers, he was allegedly lynched by demonstrators.
The prosecution opposed to the production of the photograph, which has yet to be authenticated, according to Tripathi.
The court requested a progress report from the prosecution, who requested an extension of 15 days because several forensic reports had not yet arrived.
