COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign: India crosses 100 crore landmark

New Delhi, October 21: India’s cumulative COVID-19 vaccination coverage crossed the historic milestone of administering 100 crore doses on Thursday.

As per the COWIN portal at 9:47 am today, a total of 100 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far to eligible beneficiaries. Notably, this vaccination drive was launched on January 16, 2021. The last 20 crore doses have been given in 31 days. Around 75% of the youth population of the country has taken at least one dose and 31% of the population has taken both the doses of vaccine.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital in the national capital. The government has made special preparations to announce the completion of 100 crore doses of the vaccine. For this, there is a plan to announce through loudspeakers on trains, planes and ships. Also, villages that have completed 100% vaccination have been told that they should respect the health workers by putting up posters and banners.

Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will also launch a song and a film today in the celebration of 100 crore doses. This program has been kept at Red Fort at 12.30 pm. It is being told that Kailash Kher has given voice in this song. According to the news agency PTI, the country’s largest tricolor of 1400 kg is also expected to be installed at the Red Fort.
