Jamshedpur, Jan 4 : Jamshedpur saw its first Covid casualty on Monday evening, after about one month.
A 69- year-old man suffering from Covid- 19 breathed his last at the Tata Main Hospital ( TMH ) last evening. A resident of Agrico locality of the city, the elderly person was admitted to the hospital after he complained of breathing complications.
Health department sources said the victim was suffering from comorbid conditions.
Meanwhile, Covid-19 continued its three-digit mark with 128 fresh cases reported here in the last 24 hours.
The fresh cases were reported from Telco, Golmuri, Baridih, Mango, Parsudih, Sakchi, Sonari, Kadma, Sitaramdera and several other places.
In all seven doctors including the superintendent of MGM Medical College and Hospital, Arun Kumar was tested Covid positive. Fourteen other health workers were also found Covid positive.
” If this trend continues, then the third wave of Coronavirus is very much evident, ” said a health department official
The East Singhbhum district administration has set up the control room and call centres in view of the rising covid cases. The control room and call centres will function round the clock.
Meanwhile, the vaccination for the 15-18 years age group continued for the second day today.
On the first day on Monday, over 6,000 teenagers got their first Covid jab in Jamshedpur.
