Both the victims had taken double doses of the Covid vaccine. While the woman died at Tata Main Hospital the octogenarian breathed his last at the Tata Motors Hospital.

Despite a special Covid checking drive launched in the district on Monday, there has been an abrupt rise in fresh cases.

The district recorded 402  fresh cases of Coronavirus during the last 24 hours, a cause of major concern for the health department.

Among those infected were city SP Subhas Jat and nine doctors.

All restrictions have been imposed in the steel city as per guidelines issued by the state government.

Covid checking drives are being carried out in various public places including markets, railway stations and all entry points to the steel city.

For the second consecutive day, police drove away people who tried to enter Jubilee Park.
