Daltonganj, Jan 15: Palamu’s covid infection recovery rate is significantly ahead of its positivity rate in the raging third wave.

The recovery rate is 21.05 % while the positivity rate is 5.53 %, according to the district epidemiologist Dr Anup Kumar Singh.

Till January 14, a total of 1,140 people got Covid positive out of which 240 of them recovered health and were discharged.

Civil surgeon Palamu Dr Anil Kumar said if people follow Covid appropriate behaviour then this positivity rate can be further contained. It is showing an upward trend simply because people avoid using masks and wait for the days when they get down with Covid.

“885 Covid positive people were in home isolation till January 14 and Covid kit of the state government has reached 739 of them,” said Dr Anup.

Dr Dilip Kr Singh, the medical superintendent, said that nearly half a dozen personnel of the MMCH are Covid positive but are on the way to recovery.

Medical officer in charge of the community health centre Chainpur Dr Chaman Kumar Bhardwaj said three of his CHC officials had tested positive but are negative now and are fit and fine to discharge their duties.

As regards to vaccination, Palamu has achieved 75 % vaccination of the first dose of the target eligibles who count for more than 14.18 lakh.

Second dose vaccination staggers at only 51 %.

The state health department had asked for a 100% vaccination of the first dose by January 15 and a week was also given in addition to this cut-off date.

SDO sadar Rajesh Kumar Sah said that Satbarwa block will be achieving 100% vaccination of the first dose in a few days.

The SDO is credited with accelerating the pace of the vaccination as he pleads with people in their own dialect avoiding medical jargon.

Makar Sankranti did slow down the vaccination drive as on January 14, Palamu could do 1,174 vaccination of 15+, 4,812 of 18+ and 122 precaution doses, which a day ahead January 13 was 2,567, 8,476 and 277 vaccinations respectively.
